How the treatment works
Pigmentation Spot uses focused IPL light to target concentrated melanin in a single sun mark or dark spot. The light-based energy breaks pigment into smaller fragments the body can gradually clear, while leaving surrounding skin largely unaffected. This targeted approach is suitable when you want to treat one area without full-face procedures.
How quickly a spot fades depends on its depth, your natural skin tone, and recent sun exposure. In Athens's humid subtropical climate, frequent sun and outdoor activities can influence pigmentation, so timing and sun protection matter. Your provider will consider those factors and your treatment history when explaining realistic expectations and next steps.
What to expect during sessions
Sessions begin with a brief consultation to confirm the target area and review recent sun exposure or topical products. The appointment itself is intentionally brief — many spot treatments can be completed in about 15 MINUTES — because the focus is on a single mark rather than larger zones. Expect cloth or gel to protect the skin during treatment.
During the pulse you may feel brief warmth, snapping, or mild stinging depending on the spot and sensitivity. Protective eyewear is used to shield eyes from the light. Immediately afterwards the treated area can look darker or slightly pink for a short period — these are common transient responses that your technician will describe beforehand.
Aftercare and expected results
After treatment you’ll be advised to avoid direct sun and use broad-spectrum sunscreen, since UV exposure can darken healing pigment. Avoid abrasive exfoliation until the area settles; your technician will give specific post-care steps. Because we serve students and staff near UGA, we offer timing options that fit commuting schedules for pre- or post-event appointments.
Pigment lightening is gradual; you may see changes over weeks and occasionally need follow-up sessions depending on the spot’s characteristics. BODYBRITE- Athens does not guarantee outcomes but will discuss likely timelines during consultation. Pricing for a single spot session begins Starting at $79 and length is typically 15 MINUTES per visit.
