Hydrafacial Deluxe Aftercare: 48‑Hour Do’s and Don’ts
By BODYBRITE- Athens | September 24, 2026
I’m writing this for my Athens clients who want their glow to last, especially in our humid, sweaty months when skin can get reactive fast.

The single most important rule after a Hydrafacial Deluxe is this: protect your skin like it’s freshly polished. Keep heat, sweat, and direct sun off it for the next 24 to 48 hours. Your Hydrafacial Deluxe (60 minutes, starting at $269) cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates in one thorough session, and that “just did something good for my skin” feeling is real. Now the goal is to not stir things up while your barrier settles.
0–24 hours after Hydrafacial Deluxe: keep it cool, clean, and calm
Right after your Hydrafacial Deluxe, your skin often looks brighter and feels extra smooth. A lot of people tell me they’re still glowing days later, but the first day is when you can accidentally shorten that payoff.
Do
- Cleanse with a gentle cleanser tonight and tomorrow morning. No scrubby tools, no exfoliating brushes.
- Moisturize with something light but comforting. Hydration is the whole point of the treatment, so keep supporting it.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ the next morning, even if you’re mostly in the car. Athens sun plus fresh skin is a fast way to get irritation.
- Drink water and keep your hands off your face. Picking at one “little spot” is how a calm face turns into an angry one.
Don’t
- Work up a heavy sweat. In late summer and early fall, Athens humidity makes this tricky, so skip outdoor workouts and long walks in the heat for at least 24 hours.
- Use hot water on your face, steam, or anything that feels “warming.” Keep showers comfortably lukewarm.
- Use strong actives tonight: retinoids, exfoliating acids, or harsh acne spot treatments.
- Book other resurfacing services right away. Let your skin enjoy the win first.
Athens reality check: If you’re heading to a UGA event near West Athens and Alps Road, plan around heat. I’d rather you come in glowing than come in glowing and then immediately sweat it out.
24–48 hours: when makeup and workouts usually feel safe again
By day two, most people feel “back to normal, ” and that’s when it’s tempting to jump straight into everything. I generally recommend you reintroduce things in a calm order.
Makeup
If your skin feels settled, you can usually wear makeup the next day. Keep it light. And please wash brushes and sponges, because fresh skin plus dirty tools is a breakout combo.
Exercise
If you must work out, choose something lower-sweat for the first 24 hours. After that, moderate workouts are usually fine as long as you cleanse soon after and avoid rubbing your face with a towel.
Sun
This is the non-negotiable. Keep up the SPF 30+ and try not to bake in direct sun. Hydrafacials look best when you protect the investment.
Days 3–7: the “don’t overdo it” week (retinol and acids included)
A Hydrafacial Deluxe is thorough, and I love that it gives you that fresh, clean feel without the downtime people worry about. But your skin still needs a few days before you go back to your strongest products.
My simple rule for actives
Skip retinol and chemical exfoliants for at least 3 to 7 days. If you’re sensitive, lean toward the full week. If you restart and you sting or flush, pause and go back to gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF for another couple days.
Avoid picking, avoid trying a brand-new “miracle” serum, and avoid stacking procedures back-to-back. If you’re also doing services like Microneedling, Laser Hair Removal, Body Sculpting, body tightening, skin tightening, or even Teeth Whitening around the same season of life, tell me your timeline so I can help you space things in a way your skin actually likes.
“3 days later, my skin is still glowing and smooth.”

The easiest at-home routine to protect your Hydrafacial results
If you want a quick routine that doesn’t feel like homework, stick to three categories for the first week: gentle cleanse, hydrate, protect.
- Gentle cleanser: No exfoliating beads, no strong acid cleansers, no “tingle equals working” products.
- Hydration: Look for hyaluronic acid or a barrier-supporting moisturizer that feels comfortable all day. If you feel tight by lunchtime, add a little more.
- SPF every morning: Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ is the best insurance policy you can buy for your glow.
And if you’re the type who likes to try new products, patch-test first. Post-facial is not the moment to experiment on your whole face.
If something feels “off, ” I want you to reach out
A little pinkness can happen right after any exfoliation-based facial, and it usually settles quickly. What I don’t want is you sitting at home wondering if you should be worried.
Reach out if you notice any of these
- Redness that doesn’t improve by the 48-hour mark
- Swelling, increasing tenderness, or heat in one area
- Any signs that look like infection (oozing, crusting, or worsening pain)
Call +16785785020 or email athensbodybrite@gmail.com. If you’re in Athens, Winterville, Bogart, Hull, Bishop, or Watkinsville, I can usually help you troubleshoot quickly so you don’t lose your results.
